Thin-Film Metallizing Technician

Company: ITW (Illinois Tool Works) – ShineMark, NA | Location: Bloomfield, CT 06002

Why this role

• Direct-hire opportunity with a global manufacturer
• 2nd shift: Monday–Friday, 2:00 pm–10:00 pm
• Pay: $22.00–$23.00/hr based on experience + $0.75/hr 2nd-shift differential
• Overtime: 1–2 weekends per month (Saturday and Sunday)

What you’ll do

• Run the metallizer safely: start/stop operations from the control panel
• Complete changeovers per schedule; align and fasten rollers/boats using hand tools
• Thread film webs; set and adjust wire feeds, product speed, and line speed
• Apply metallization and design patterns; perform rewinding and handle finished goods
• Inspect, measure, and test to specifications; operate QA equipment and document results
• Make pass/fail decisions; escalate unusual findings to supervisors/technical staff
• Clean equipment between runs; confined space entry may be required (machine specific)
• Load/unload, pack, and move materials using carts and pallets
• Operate a forklift/fork truck

Support tasks

• Use computer systems to print run sheets/labels and perform QA testing
• Handle solvents per hazardous material procedures
• Master product codes, color numbering, and jumbo tag systems
• Cross-train across teams and assist other operators
• Record production quantities per SOPs and job orders; conduct quality checks

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Manufacturing experience and/or mechanical aptitude preferred

• Strong attention to detail; effective written and verbal communication
• Willing to learn; flexible to support other departments within ITW ShineMark, NA
• Experience with 5S is a plus (not required)
• Ability to thrive in a demanding, fast-paced environment

Physical/work environment

• Frequent standing/walking; visual inspections; sit as needed
• Climb ladders and stairs; reach with hands and arms
• Hear machinery, forklifts, and coworkers; communicate clearly
• Respiratory clearance exam and respirator use as needed
• Lift/push/pull/move up to 85 lbs
• 100% non-smoking campus; agreement to comply is required
